The temple is to the North of Banepa and is a big attraction for Nepalese particularly on a Saturday and Sunday. A three day fair is held there on Buddha Purnima
The temple was built, according to myth, in honour of Parvati, who slayed the demon Chandasur. This demon was terrorizing the inhabitants of Banepa. Chandeswori means "the slayer of Chanda." Although one tower was destroyed by the earthquake in 2015, Chandeswori temple has many exquisite wooden carvings and statues that are definitely worth seeing.
